Linus Grevenkamp
Cassella native Linus "Lonnie" Grevenkamp, 86, of Bishop, Calif., died Nov. 13, 2007, at his home.
He was born Dec. 21, 1920, in Cassella, to Henry and Mary Grevenkamp. His wife of 58 years, Marian McMurry, is deceased.
Survivors are five sons, Thomas, Long Beach, Calif., Daniel, Martinez, Calif., Russell (Mary) and Alan (Kathy), all of Bishop, and Charles (Karen), Farmersville; two daughters, Susan (Michael) Henderson, Martinez, and Jeanette (Douglas) Underwood, Costa Mesa, Calif.; a brother, Urban (Alice), Celina; a sister, Adella Hess, St. Henry; and 13 grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers and two sisters.
He worked in the engineering department of the U.S. Army Air Corps at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, and served with the Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. A 1939 graduate of St. John High School, he also worked for a wholesale distributor and later became a partner in the business, operating it until 1975. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Inyo Post 118, all of Bishop.
Funeral Mass was Nov. 17 at the church. Burial was at East Line Street Cemetery, Bishop.
Arrangements were handled by Brune & Buck Mortuary, Bishop.
