Scattered snow showers will become more widespread through this afternoon and then likely linger into this evening before tapering off into tonight.
The snow showers will be capable of causing brief periods of reduced visibilities, especially this afternoon. In addition, brisk conditions will prevail with west winds gusting in the 30 to 40 mph range today.
Light snow accumulations will be possible, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. While roads will remain mostly wet during the daytime hours, some slick spots may develop toward sunset and beyond as temperatures drop below freezing.
Please be prepared for the changing weather conditions today and the potential for reduced visibilities when driving.

Carol Tonkin
Carol Tonkin, 60, 424 W. Fulton St., Celina, died May 27, 2008, at her residence. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born May 12, 1948, in Celina, to James and Virginia Wilson Heckler. On June 9, 1972, she married John W. Tonkin Sr., who died Sept. 1, 2006.
Surviving are two sons, Sean Tonkin and Valentin Guerra, both of Decatur, Ga.; a stepson, John Tonkin Jr., Mason; three stepdaughters, Sherry Young, Sidney, and Lynette and Havilah Tonkin, both of Celina; two brothers James Heckler, Hellertown, Pa., and Donald Heckler, Celina; and seven grandchildren.
Deceased is a stepson, Jeffrey Tonkin.
She was a business manager for Mercer County Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD). She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, and a 1964 graduate of the former Immaculate Conception High School, Celina.
There are no services.
Calling is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at her residence on Fulton Street.
Contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Mercer County.
Arrangements are being handled by Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
