Gregor Dues
Gregor D. "Greg" Dues, 73, died July 24, 2008, at Bay Regional Medical Center, Bay City, Mich.
He was born May 29, 1935, in Mercer County, to Joseph and Mary Kaup Dues. He married Barbara J. Walkley, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters, Francisca (Robert) Zehnder, Saginaw, Mich., and Elena Dues, Bay City, Mich.; a brother, Lowell (Joan), Coldwater; seven sisters, Genevieve Schmitz and Jeanette (Howard) Osterholt, all of St. Henry, Wilma Naber, Maria Dues, Russells Point, Marilyn (Willard) Forelich, Minster, Helen Homan and Mary Ann (Don) Post, all of Coldwater; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Dues, Eaton.
Deceased are four brothers and wives, Harold (Helen), Joseph (Coleen), Wilfred and Stanley (Dorma) Dues; three brothers-in-law, Thomas Homan, Gregor Schmitz, and Vernon Naber.
A former priest, he was ordained in 1962, and received his M.A. in Human and Religous Studies and LMSW license in 1979 and Doctorate of Ministry in 1987. He spent his early years of ministry in parish and education ministry in the dioceses of LaCrosse, Wisc., Dodge Ctiy, Kan., Bismarck, N.D., and Pueblo, Colo. He served as a catechetical leader in the Diocese of Saginaw, as director of religious education and pastoral associate for Sacred Heart Parish in Caro, Mich., St. Christopher in Bridgeport, Mich., and St. John Vianney in Saginaw Township, and served as consultant to the diocesan Tribunal adjunct faculty member of Loyola University, New Orleans, La. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Church in Essexville, Mich., where he was a member of the parish council, a member of the Amici C.PP.S, and the Master Gardener's Club of Bay City.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Dale A. Orlik officiating. Burial is at St. Wendelin Cemetery.
Calling is 2-5 p.m. and 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel, Bay City, Mich.
Contributions can be made to the BOLD Campaign of the church or the Catholic Community Foundation of Mid-Michigan, Saginaw.
