Light snow is expected to develop across the area after midnight, shifting to the southeast through the predawn hours. This band of light snow will affect the region by the Thursday morning commute, eventually pushing south of the area by mid- morning.
Minor snow accumulations of less than an inch are expected, but cold ground conditions will allow for quick accumulation on any untreated surfaces. The main impacts are expected to be reduced visibilities and some slick spots on untreated surfaces.
Motorists should exercise caution. Plan extra time for the Thursday morning commute.

Fredona Rethman
Former North Star resident, Fredona M. Rethman, 97, died at 11:30 a.m. July 26, 2008, at the Versailles Health Care Center.
She was born March 7, 1911, in Frenchtown, to Peter and Stella Goubeaux Bulcher. On June 1, 1935, she married Lawrence Rethman, who died Jan. 8, 1997.
Survivors are two sons, Jack (Alberta), North Star, Denis (Gladys), Maria Stein; four daughters, Wanda Homan, North Star, Connie (Jerome) Meyer, Sidney, Sharon (Gene) Mayl, Dayton, Deborah (Mike) Tobe, Tipp City; two brothers Frances (Esther) and Willard, all of Versailles; two sisters-in-law, Winnie, Versailles, and Rosemary, Russia; 18 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Clarence, Orville, Robert and Rhomane; five sisters, Margaret Bulcher, Florence Barga, Thelma Bulcher, Pauline Gigandet and Lucille Danzig.
A homemaker, she worked on the family farm with her husband and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star and its Ladies Sodality.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Contributions can be made to the State of the Heart Hospice.
