Light snow is expected to develop across the area after midnight, shifting to the southeast through the predawn hours. This band of light snow will affect the region by the Thursday morning commute, eventually pushing south of the area by mid- morning.
Minor snow accumulations of less than an inch are expected, but cold ground conditions will allow for quick accumulation on any untreated surfaces. The main impacts are expected to be reduced visibilities and some slick spots on untreated surfaces.
Motorists should exercise caution. Plan extra time for the Thursday morning commute.

William Springer
Former Rockford resident William F. Springer, 79, of Bradenton, Fla., died at 1:15 p.m. Sept. 22, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Rockford, to Eugene and Cleo High Springer. On Oct. 2, 1949, he married Gloriana "Annie" Hill, who died April 5, 2005.
Surviving are three children, Teri (Geri) Wehausen, Columbus; Steve (Lynne), Sidney; and Susie (Doug) Dickson, San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Robert.
He worked in agriculture, initially as a farmer and later at Sharp Canning, Rockford, and Terra Industries, Carmel, Ind.
His body will be cremated and there will be no calling hours.
Good Earth Crematory, Bradenton, is handling arrangements.
