Light snow is expected to develop across the area after midnight, shifting to the southeast through the predawn hours. This band of light snow will affect the region by the Thursday morning commute, eventually pushing south of the area by mid- morning.
Minor snow accumulations of less than an inch are expected, but cold ground conditions will allow for quick accumulation on any untreated surfaces. The main impacts are expected to be reduced visibilities and some slick spots on untreated surfaces.
Motorists should exercise caution. Plan extra time for the Thursday morning commute.

Loella Bollenbacher
Loella B. Bollenbacher, 78, of Rockford, died at 8:40 a.m. Dec. 13, 2008, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born March 14, 1930, in Mercer County, to Floyd and Dottie Stetler Friedly. On Feb. 10, 1951, she married Harold "Junior" Bollenbacher, who died July 4, 2005.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra (Tom) Reichard, Fort Wayne, Ind., Peg, Van Wert, and Toni (Steve) Fisher, Rockford; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Verl Friedly; and two sisters, Geraldine Shaffer and Vera Samples.
She retired from the former Huffy Bicycle Corp., Celina, after 25 years. She was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church, the Rockford Red Hat Society, Shane's Crossing Historical Society and Rockford United Methodist Women.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Mike Berne officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the State of the Heart Hospice, the Cancer Association of Mercer County Inc. or the church.
