Victor Wiehe
Victor E. Wiehe, 90, of Fort McCoy, Fla., died at 1:55 p.m. March 17, 2009, at Tuscany Hospice House of Marion County, Summerfield, Fla. He resided at the VFW home in Fort McCoy for the last four years.
He was born April 6, 1918, in New Bremen to Harry and Bertha Huelsmeyer Wiehe. On Nov. 16, 1939, he married Marie Luebkeman, who died June 8, 2000.
Surviving are six sons, Paul (Carolyn) Wiehe, St. Marys, Roger (Sandi) Wiehe, Celina, Wayne (Judy) Wiehe, Celina, Dale (Peg) Wiehe, Celina, Gene (Glenna) Wiehe, Palmer, Alaska, and Dennis (Barb) Wiehe, St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Lorma Wiehe, New Bremen; a sister, Elizabeth King, Fremont; and a brother-in-law, Wallace Hirschfeld, New Bremen; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Howard Wiehe; three sisters, Ruth King, Edna Hirschfeld and Bernice Wittenbrink; and three brothers-in-law, Richard King, Jim King and Willis Wittenbrink.
He graduated from New Bremen High School in 1936 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45. He was a member of the American Legion, St. Marys, where he served as post commander and also served as Auglaize County American Legion commander. He was a Veterans of Foreign Wars charter member of the Fort McCoy VFW and was a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, where he served on the consistory. He was a carpenter and for 25 years a floor mechanic for Johns Furniture, St. Marys, prior to moving to Wildwood, Fla., in 1979.
He was cremated. Family graveside services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys.
Arrangements are by Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
