Sub-zero temperatures and wind chill values are expected this morning. While most locations will have values in the negative single digits, some isolated temperatures and wind chills will briefly be as low as 10 to 15 degrees below zero.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 10 to 20 below zero expected.
* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and central, south central, southwest, and west central Ohio.
* WHEN...From 7 PM Friday to noon EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Rev. Edward McCarthy
Rev. Edward P. McCarthy, 94, died Nov. 18, 2009, at St. Charles Center, Carthagena.
He was born June 1, 1915, in Boston, Mass., to William and Frances Pretto McCarthy.
He was the last member of his immediate family.
Deceased is his only brother, Rev. Francis McCarthy.
He entered the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1929, and was ordained Sept. 8, 1940. After his ordination he served as an assistant pastor at Sacred Heart Church in Sedalia, Mo., St. Anthony Church, Detroit, Mich., St. Joseph Church East Tawas, Mich., Our Lady of Hungary Church, South Bend, Ind., and St. Patrick Church, Fort Wayne, Ind. He was the chaplain of a convent and hospital in La Crosse, Wisc., from 1945-1946 before returning to parish work at Corpus Christi Church, Newport, Ky. He served at St. Agnes Convent, Fond du Lac, Wisc., from 1946-50. In 1950, he was named president of Sacred Heart College, Wichita, Kan., where he served until 1954. Later, he was assigned to teach at Saint Joseph's College, Rensselaer, Ind., which is sponsored by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. He remained at Saint Joseph's as a professor of philosophy for nearly 50 years, retiring to St. Charles in December 2006.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Monday at St. Charles Center, the Rev. Ken Schroeder, officiating. Rev. Timothy McFarland will be the homilist. Burial will follow in the Community cemetery.
Calling is 1-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at St. Charles with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry, is entrusted with arrangements.
