William Berry
William Delmore Berry, 97, of Berne, Ind., formerly of Rockford, died at 8:25 a.m. Nov. 25, 2009, at Chalet Village, Berne, Ind.
He was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Rockford to William S. Berry and Ida Sims. On Aug. 5, 1937, he married Mary H. Taylor, who died in 1995.
Surviving are three sons, AJ Berry, Berne, Ind., Dennis (Sharon) Berry, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Raymond (Julia) Berry, Geneva, Ind.; three daughters, Mary Ellen (Roger) Scott, Berne, Bonnie (Andrew) Roessner, Celina, and Janet Evans, Geneva; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Berry, Willshire; 25 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, James; a daughter, Shirley Ann; two brothers, Charles and Guy Berry; a sister, Effie Johnson; and two infant sisters.
He worked for NYC Railroad and also Rockford Elevator.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home.
