Eugene Lampert
Eugene "Gene" Edwin Charles Lampert, 80, 14566 Lampert Rd., St. Marys, died at 11:42 p.m. Jan. 7, 2010, at The Gardens in Celina.
He was born May 27, 1929, in Minster to Bernard "Ben" and Bernadine Berning Lampert. On May 16, 1953, he married JoAnn Schnell, who survives in St. Marys.
Other survivors are three children, Kim (Kathleen) Lampert, Christine (Mike) Homan, and John (Kathy) Lampert, all of St. Marys; two sisters, Marilyn Dennings and Audrey McCollum; a sister-in-law, Edna Lampert; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren
Deceased are four brothers, Orville, Virgil, Thomas and Victor Lampert.
He was retired from Crown Equipment Corporation, New Bremen, after 15 years of service. He had worked for B&M Packing Co. and owned and operated Lampert's IGA, Piqua, with his brother Tom. From 1964-1978, he owned and operated Lampert's Meats, St. Marys. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, and the New Bremen American Legion. He was a 1947 graduate of New Bremen High School.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating. Burial is at a later date.
Calling is 5-7 p.m. Monday at Cisco Funeral Home, St. Marys. The New Bremen American Legion will hold a service at 7 p.m.
