Virgil Gudorf
Virgil "Barney" S. Gudorf, 90, Minster, and Curtis, Mich., died Dec. 29, 2010, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born Dec. 24, 1920, in McCartyville, to Louis and Ann Flaute Gudorf. On Dec. 27, 1944, he married Verna Grillot, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Pat (Jeff) Arnold, Newburgh, Ind., Dale Gudorf, Russia, and Tammy (Mike) Choee, Columbus; a sister, Donna Monnin, Minster; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are eight siblings, Clarabelle Bertke, Norbert Gudorf, Leonard Gudorf, Henrietta Sherman, Sr. Mary Norbertine, Vernon Gudorf, Vera Knuefner and Merlin Gudorf.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, and St. Timothy Catholic Church in Curtis. He was also a member of the Russia Knights of Columbus, Newport Sportsman Club, Minster Eagles, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1391 and the Senior Citizens in New Bremen. He retired from Monarch Machine Tool after 33 years of service.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Rev. Rick Neiberding officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Shelby Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Association.
