The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... Northwestern Auglaize County in west central Ohio... Mercer County in west central Ohio...
* Until 900 AM EDT.
* At 606 AM EDT, radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Celina, St. Marys, Coldwater, New Bremen, Rockford, Wabash, Mendon, Chickasaw, Montezuma, Tama, Neptune, Carthagena, Bulkhead, State Route 116 at State Route 197, Chattanooga and Kossuth.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
* WHERE...Portions of central and west central Ohio, including the following counties, in central Ohio, Delaware, Franklin, Licking, Madison and Union. In west central Ohio, Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Miami and Shelby.
* WHEN...Until 2 PM EDT this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move across parts of the area this morning, possibly extending into early afternoon. This may result in bands of heavier rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.

Lost calamity days may return under new governor

The two calamity days taken from Ohio school districts this year may be restored after Gov.-elect John Kasich steps into office.

Kasich, who will be sworn in Monday, has promised to overturn Gov. Ted Strickland's actions in 2009 that decreased calamity days from five to three for this school year. But implementing the changes for the current school year will require the help of state legislators, Ohio Department of Education (ODE) spokesman Patrick Gallaway explained. [More]

CELINA - Local couple Kenny and Janet Stein remembered the day they met 55 years ago at the former Beyer's Skating Rink as they stood and watched demolition crews tear it down Monday.

"I think we were here every Friday, Saturday and even Sunday," Janet Stein said. "My girlfriends and I would walk along the corn fields and tell horror stories on our way here. We were always terrified by the time we got here."

Kenny Stein said he and his dad, Ernest, also skated at the rink years ago. [More]

Sewer separation project almost done

FORT RECOVERY - The village's sewer separation project went smoothly and is nearly complete.
