Kenneth Schmersal
Kenneth O. "Kenny" Schmersal, 68, Celina, died at 6:50 p.m. Sept. 10, 2011, at Ohio State Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born June 4, 1943, in Columbus Grove, to Mark A. and Louise A. Lammers Schmersal. On Aug. 8, 1964, he married Gretchen Tripplehorn, who survives in Celina.
Also surviving are four children, David Alan Schmersal, Columbus, Michael Paul Schmersal, Fishers, Ind., Karin Sue (William) Lampkin, Weston, Wis., and Cynthia Marie Schmersal, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Joseph F. "Joe" (Rachel) Schmersal, Columbus Grove; three sisters, Sr. Mary Lou Schmersal, C.PP.S., Findlay, Teresa D. (Dr. LeRoy) Schroeder, Findlay, and Barbara J. (Vincent) Lammers, Janesville, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Deborah K. Schmersal, Columbus Grove; and six grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Gregory M. Schmersal, and a grandson.
A 1961 graduate of Columbus Grove High School, he graduated from Hobart Institute of Welding, Piqua. He worked at General Dynamics Company in Lima and Crown Equipment in Celina.
He was a member of the American Welding Society.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Celina.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, the Rev. Thomas Extejt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. today and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, with a scripture service there at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the Lima Chapter of the American Red Cross or to the donor's choice.
