Harold Phlipot
Harold C. Phlipot Sr., 90, of Versailles, died at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 15, 2011, at Versailles Healthcare Center.
He was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Shelby County, to John and Margaret Didier Phlipot.
On April 20, 1949, he married Juliana Hoelscher, who survives.
Other survivors are seven children, Carol (Marv) Ruppert, St. Marys, Nancy (John) Overholser, Versailles, Mary Jo (Jerry) Hecht, Versailles, Maggie (Keith) Dabbelt, New Bremen, Deidre (Kenny) Rindler, Fort Loramie, Harold (Rose) Phlipot, Versailles, and Lisa (Ed) Schemmel, Maria Stein; a son-in-law, Larry Selhorst, Coldwater; three brothers, Nicholas, Conrad and Marion Phlipot; a sister, Erna Voisard; 29 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Selhorst; a brother, Victor Phlipot; four sisters, Henrietta Baltes, Kathleen Wehrman, Maxine Monnin and Gertrude Schulze; and a grandson.
A farmer, carpenter and brick layer by trade, he was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Versailles, and the Osgood American Legion. A World War II veteran, he served as a staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park in Covington with graveside rites conducted by the Osgood American Legion.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.
