Fred Swartz
Fred G. Swartz, 77, of St. Marys, died at 12:35 p.m. Oct. 15, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 5, 1934, in St. Marys, to Sam and Cynthia Davis Swartz. On Nov. 24, 1954, he married Janet Quellhorst, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Gary (Jennifer) Swartz, St. Marys, and Sam (Angie Manarolla) Swartz, Dublin; two brothers, Charles (Sue Ellen) Swartz and Sam Swartz, all of St. Marys; a sister, Melody Thrush, St. Johns; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Becky Swartz; three brothers-in-law, Charles Siferd, Glen Thrush and Edward Quellhorst; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Swartz.
He retired from Midwest Electric Cooperative, St. Marys, and also owned Fred's Income Tax Service in St. Marys. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 767, both of St. Marys. A collector of World War I and World War II memorabilia, he donated the collection to the Auglaize County Historical Museum. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Ed Bray officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church endowment fund or Grand Lake Hospice.
