Helen Kidd

Helen Virginia Kidd, 97, Decatur, Ind., died at 3:40 a.m. Sept. 29, 2012, at Woodcrest Nursing Center, Decatur.

She was born Oct. 27, 1914, in Chattem Hill, Va., to William and Cora Kegley Smith. She married Drurey Kidd, who preceded her in death.

Also surviving are a son, William Eugene "Billy" Kidd, Celina; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are two sisters, Carrie Smith and Katheryn "Minnie" Smith, and five brothers, Frank, Floyd, John, James and Charles Smith.

She was a homemaker and a housekeeper for various hotels. She also worked at a textile mill in Virginia.

Private family visitation was held at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
