Law enforcement seeks tips from public

Celina firefighters and police officers responded to a rash of suspicious vehicle fires early this morning at residences in the northeast part of the city.
Arson is suspected.
The first 911 call came in at 5:30 a.m. today from the 1600 block of Queensbury Drive with a second fire report 13 minutes later from the 1000 block of Kensington Court. Someone also reported a smouldering fire in vehicle along Meadowview Drive shortly before 10 a.m. [More]

MINSTER - Board of education members voted Monday night to seek the renewal of a 0.2-mill recreation levy in November.
Treasurer Laura Klosterman said the current levy expires at the end of the year. If approved by voters the district will collect $12,349 annually for five years. [More]

The Grand Lake Mariners may be the sixth-seeded team in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League playoffs but Cody Castle is optimistic about his team's chances in the six-team tournament.
GLSCL Honors
The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League announced its individual awards for the 2013 season on Monday and five Grand Lake Mariners earned all-GLSCL honors.
Landowners in parts of Mercer and Auglaize counties and all of Van Wert County in the St. Marys River Watershed can apply for more than $1.5 million in Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) funds to help combat toxic blue-green algae blooms that continue to plague western Lake Erie.
Nominations are being accepted for one open seat on each of the Farm Service Agency (FSA) committees for Mercer and Auglaize counties.
Each county committee is comprised of three members who each serve a three-year term. The deadline to nominate candidates is Thursday.
