Auto dealer offers $1,000 reward in thefts

By Margie Wuebker
CELINA - Kerns Auto Group is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the recent theft of two vehicles.
The vehicles - a silver 2007 Cadillac SRX and a silver 2006 Dodge Charger - were taken from the sales lot at 1000 W. Logan St. during the nighttime hours of Aug. 22. Employees discovered the cars missing when they returned the following day.
Celina Interim Police Chief Calvin Freeman told The Daily Standard both vehicles were locked at the time they were stolen. Key boxes were attached to the side windows.
Freeman said thieves have previously targeted area dealerships, including Bud's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Inc. in Celina and Kerns Ford Inc. in St. Marys.
He urged anyone who spots suspicious activity in and around dealerships to call the police department at 419-586-2345.
"Any information the public can provide will help in the investigation," Freeman added.
