Bessie Fahncke
Bessie Snyder Fahncke, 94, Celina, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Oct. 10, 2013, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Sept. 2, 1919, in Rockford, to Benjamin and Merlie Rush Snyder.
On June 15, 1937, she married Norman Edgar Otto Fahncke, who died Nov. 5, 1989.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna (William) Randall, Auburndale, Fla.; Reta Schroeder, Celina; Carolyn Glock, Celina; Linda (Frank) Pulskamp, Ostrander; and Patty (Jeff) Johnson, Mendon; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Lowell Schroeder; two grandchildren, Corbon Helentjaris and Brad Randall; brothers, Verl Snyder, Dee Snyder, Darlene Snyder and Lowell Snyder; sisters, Opal Huffman, Arberdeen Fickert, Lena Cook, Lela Felver and Bonita Dietsch, and her twin sister, Jessie Sapp.
She was a 1937 graduate of Rockford High School and worked at the Rockford Canning Factory following graduation. She then worked at Goodyear in St. Marys for 25 years until retiring in 1981.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, the Ladies Aid at the church and a faithful member of the Woman's Group at church. She was a member of the Celina Eastern Star #91 and had been active with the Celina Council on Aging.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Celina, the Revs. Jeff Gramza and Sharon Stonerock officiating. Burial will follow in Mercer Memory Gardens.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
