Hanley Evans
Hanley E. Evans, 73, St. Marys, died at 2:50 p.m. April 28, 2014, at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1941, in Fonde, Ky., to Richard and Doshie Snodgrass Evans Sr. On May 8, 1971, he married Elaine L. Lynch in Sidney, and she survives.
Also surviving are brothers, Richard (Edna) Evans Jr. , Goshen, Ind.; Ronnie (Mabel) Evans, Troy, Tenn.; Larry (Brenda) Evans, Goshen; sisters, Kathy (Denny) Burden, St. Marys; Etta Pruitt, Wapakoneta; Beverly (Dan) Baker, Wapakoneta; Susan (Sam) Goins, Goshen; Teresa (Steve) Burger, Goshen; a sister-in-law, Kathryn (Rocky) Clark, St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Mark Evans and Eddie Evans; sisters, Sylvia Lamb and Geraldine Harrell; brothers, Kenneth Evans, Gary Evans and Van Troy Evans; and a brother-in-law, Michael Lynch.
He retired from Dannon Company in Minster, where he worked as a janitor. He was a member of Eagles Lodge Aerie 767 and a social member of VFW Post 9289, both in St. Marys. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, gardening and working on automobiles. His pet dog, "Chloe," also held a special place in his heart.
He appreciated the friendship he shared with his brother-in-law, Denny Burden, and the support of the Amanda Klosterman family.
Funeral rites will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home on High Street.
