Marvin Monnin
Marvin R. Monnin, 73, Minster, died at 5:52 p.m. July 11, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, after a 10-month illness.
He was born Jan. 28, 1941, in Dayton, to Robert and Helen Mangen Monnin. On Sept. 14, 1963, he married Barbara Wyen in Minster, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Julie (Scott) Stephens, Zionsville, Ind.; a son, Ted (Danette) Monnin, Cincinnati; brothers and sisters, Carolyn (Richard) Mescher, North Star, Verl (Ann) Monnin, McCartyville, Jackie Meyers, Anna, Ruth (Dick) Pierron, Versailles, Roberta (Jim) Duckworth, Indiana, Gregory Monnin, Massachusetts, Gene (Marilyn) Monnin, Russia, Debbie Leber, Anna, Robert Monnin, Newport, and Trina (Bob) Thobe, Versailles; in-laws, Bob (Diana) Wyen and Tom (Joan) Wyen, all of McCartyville; and grandchildren, Alexis and Daniel Stephens and Samantha, Gabriel and Sophia Monnin.
He worked for 33 years at Minster Machine, 4 1/2 years at Hogenkamp Funeral Home and 11 years as a bus driver for Minster Local Schools. He served eight years on Minster Village Council and three years on the governing board of Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, the Minster Boosters and the Knights of Columbus, all of Minster. He was a member and past president of the Minster Civic Association, a 27-year member and past president of Minster Area Life Squad. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
