Scattered snow showers will become more widespread through this afternoon and then likely linger into this evening before tapering off.
The snow showers will be capable of causing brief periods of reduced visibilities, especially this afternoon. In addition, brisk conditions will prevail with west winds gusting in the 30 to 40 mph range today.
Light snow accumulations will be possible, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. While roads will remain mostly wet during the daytime hours, some slick spots may develop toward sunset as temperatures begin to drop below freezing.
Please be prepared for the changing weather conditions today and the potential for reduced visibilities when driving.

Virginia Zimmerman
Virginia May Zimmerman, 83, Portland, Ind., passed away Oct. 26, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Portland, to Bert and Wilma Bechdolt Loyd. On Feb. 22, 1950, she married Blaine Zimmerman, who survives.
Surviving are a son, James (Rachael) Zimmerman, Portland; two daughters, Carol Gates, Portland, and Susan (Mark Hood) Knight, Portland; a brother, Gerald Loyd, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Mary Ann Stolz, Mooresville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She had worked at Jay Garment and Ballestran, both of Portland, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Portland, Pastor Mark Strietelmeier officiating. Burial is at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, Ind., and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Jay County Cancer Society or a hospice of the donor's choice.
