Katherine Barlow
Katherine R. Barlow, age 78, formerly of Clayton, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. Leonard Retirement Community in Centerville.
Born May 14, 1940 in Chickasaw, Ohio to the late Raymond B. and Esther (Sunderhaus) Dobmeyer.
Survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Michael J. Barlow; children, Tim (Cassie) Barlow, John (Ann) Barlow, Michael Barlow Jr., Peg (Pete) Jula, Matt (Sarah) Barlow; grandchildren Jake, Katherine, Emma, Thomas, Paul, Molly, Sam and Mira; siblings, Paul (Jinny) Dobmeyer, Ann Dobmeyer (John Woodruff), Kristina Dobmeyer, Frank (Marilyn) Dobmeyer and many other extended family and friends.
Preceded in death by her brother Mike Dobmeyer.
Kathy graduated from Coldwater High School in 1958 and Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1961, working as an RN for Good Samaritan Hospital before staying home to raise her five children. She then worked for physician's offices in Trotwood and Englewood in the Premier Family Practice Network before retiring in 2008.
She was active in the leadership of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing Alumni Association, serving for decades as the treasurer, and was a long-time volunteer for the Heart Institute of Dayton of GSH.
She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend and her selfless spirit, tireless work ethic and ready smile will be remembered by all who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 2 at 11:00 AM at St. Leonard's Chapel, Fr. Gerald Haemmerle celebrant, with a celebration of her life immediately following in the Franciscan Center at St. Leonard. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of the Miami Valley.
