Lee Clausing
Lee D. Clausing, 81, of St. Marys, OH died 1:25 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born March 31, 1937 on the family farm near New Knoxville, OH to Ferd and Marie (Lutterbein) Clausing. On June 28, 1959 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys, OH he married Sandra Engel, who survives.
Also survived by: daughter Lisa (Jack) Masonbrink of St. Marys, OH; daughter Jennifer (Steve) Ginter of St. Marys, OH; 5 grandchildren: Adam (Abbey) Masonbrink, Aaron (Kerri) Masonbrink, Andrew Masonbrink, Madison Ginter, Natalie Ginter; 3 great-granddaughters: Addison Masonbrink, Lilly Masonbrink, Anna Masonbrink; sister-in-law Becky (John) Davis of St. Marys, OH; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents Ferd and Marie Clausing; an infant child; sister Ruth (Howard) Dickman; brother Rev. Vernon (Kay) Clausing.
He was a graduate of New Knoxville High School (Class of 1955). A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army. Lee first worked at Landmark in New Knoxville. He then worked for Snapper/Lawn Boy Mowers in Greenville, OH where he retired as sales manager.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Sunday School teacher, trustee and deacon), Eagles Lodge Aerie #767 (Golden Eagle), B.P.O.E (Wapakoneta) and the Tri-County Coin Club.
Lee had a "green thumb" and generously shared the produce from his garden with others. He was well-known as a trusted and respected expert in numismatics (coin collecting). His favorite pastimes included eating lunch at the Eagles Lodge and attending any and all family-related activities (especially those involving his grandchildren).
Funeral services are scheduled to begin 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 23, 2018 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys, with the Rev. Douglas J. Williamson, officiating. Burial, with graveside military rites, will follow at the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys.
