Construction of the $12 million Mercer County Detention Center has recently finished. The facility will house the Mercer County Sheriff offices along with dispatch in one wing of the building, while the other wing is the 110 bed jail. After finial touches and trial runs, the jail will be ready for the move-in of the inmates on February 28, 2010. The public is invited to tour the facility west of Celina on State Route 29 from 6 to 8:30 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2009. Additional open houses will be held later.
