The site of the old Mercer County Jail is now a parking lot. But the former building's appearance and function before its demolition in 2010 was not static. At one time in the old jail's history cars could be parked in the basement, the front rooms and sally port were added and the building even served as the Sheriff and his family's residence with his wife cooking for the inmates.
