Two bass fishing tournaments held on Grand Lake have been canceled for this year, and Lake Development Corporation (LDC) members wonder if the reason is the lake's poor water quality.
"We had 102 registered tournaments on the lake last year and a couple of big ones are not coming back in 2007," Grand Lake St. Marys State Park Manager Craig Morton said during the LDC's meeting on Monday. [More]

Two people, including a retired priest who had served parishes in Minster and St. Henry, were seriously injured Monday in a pair of traffic accidents on rural Mercer County roadways.
The Rev. Joseph M. Pax, 85, 2860 U.S. 127, Celina, remains in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, following a 1:43 p.m. accident at the intersection of state Route 29 and Burkettsville-St. Henry Road. [More]

COLDWATER - Twelve major construction projects were completed in 2006, Mayor Vern Stammen reported in his state of the village address at Monday's council meeting.
ST. HENRY - Village council members unanimously approved an increase of utility prices during the regular meeting Monday evening.
Residents now will pay $7 more on their monthly water and sewer bill - an annual increase of $84.
ST. HENRY -  Mayor Lavern Schulze will not be running for re-election at November's general election.
