The Mercer County-Celina City Health Department currently is handling what they call a minor outbreak of pertussis (whooping cough), including a case that left a local infant struggling for his life.
A bid opened last week for long-awaited shoreline protection projects on Grand Lake has come in almost $133,000 under the state's estimate, reported Brian Miller, assistant manager at Grand Lake St. Marys State Park.
Issues involving Grand Lake took center stage during a candidates forum hosted Saturday by the nonprofit Lake Improvement Association (LIA).
Several local and state candidates for political office attended.
A St. Marys man was found dead Friday in Defiance County, and law enforcement officials termed his death an apparent suicide.
