Students stretch skills to reach from New Bremen to Nepal

NEW BREMEN - Students in Amy Poeppelman's sixth-grade science class are on a mission - a geotechnical engineering mission to be exact.
Their goal is to design a safe way for villagers in rural Nepal to safely reach a medical clinic situated across the river. The two-week lab unit, titled "A Stick in the Mud: Evaluating a Landscape," incorporates math, science and critical thinking components into an enjoyable exercise. [More]

It was fitting that a group of seniors stood out for the Celina football team on Friday night as it was senior night against Lima Bath at Celina Stadium.
The Celina passing game helped erase a halftime deficit with 21 points in the third quarter for a 34-21 victory over Bath in Western Buckeye League play. [More]

FORT RECOVERY - The St. Henry Redskins rocketed out to a fast start on offense and held on for dear life in the second half for a 37-21 victory over the Fort Recovery Indians on Friday night at Barrenbrugge Field.
The win snaps St. Henry's three-game losing streak and puts the Redskins at 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. Fort Recovery falls to 3-5 on the year and 1-5 in league play. [More]

FORT RECOVERY -  Anyone slightly interested in American history should visit Fort Recovery, says William Heath, Pulitzer Prize-nominated novelist and professor.
Vantage Career Center in Van Wert has placed two levies on the Nov. 4 election ballot: one 0.8 mill operating levy replacement; the other is a 1.2 mill bond levy to generate funds for career-technical lab renovation, much of which is not eligible for state funding.
