Ruby Freewalt
Ruby I. Freewalt, 88, 1903 Winston Drive, St. Marys, died at 4:20 a.m. Aug. 23, 2009, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
She was born Dec. 9, 1920, in Fryburg to Raymond and Hazel Schlegel Thomas. On April 10, 1943, she married Daniel D. Freewalt, who died Oct. 14, 2001.
Surviving are a brother-in-law, Norman Butcher Sr., Wapakoneta; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Leona Butcher; stepmother, Reva Thomas; and two stepbrothers, David Ruff and William Turner.
She retired from the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, St. Marys, where she worked as a finisher. She was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, all in St. Marys. She was a 1939 graduate of Buckland High School. She and her husband volunteered at area veteransorganizations.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Mary Kay Brown officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
