Alvina Kanney
Alvina R. Kanney, 100, of Coldwater, died Sept. 19, 2009, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
She was born Sept. 5, 1909, in St. Wendelin to Jacob and Justina Fullenkamp Braun. On June 21, 1927, she married Aloysius A. Kanney Sr., who died March 30, 1985.
Surviving are her children, Mary Ann Kanney, Coldwater, Robert (Dorothy) Kanney, St. Henry, and Al (Della) Kanney Jr., Vince (Marilyn) Kanney and Betty Weitzel, all of Coldwater; two sisters, in-law, Loretta Braun, Dayton, and Roseann Braun, St. Henry; 21 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Margie Kanney; a son-in-law, Richard Weitzel; three brothers; three sisters; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
She retired from Mercer County Community Hospital where she was a nurse's aide. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality and the St. Cecelia Knights of St. John Auxiliary.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Walling officiating. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
