Virginia Voress
Virginia M. "Gin" Voress, age 70, of Houston, Ohio, formerly of New Bremen, died on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 6:45 P.M. at the Ohio's Hospice of Miami County, in Troy.
She was born on December 16, 1953 in St. Marys, one of the first babies to be born at the new hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence H. and Thelma M. (Hartings) Broerman. On November 28, 1984, she married John E. Voress, and he survives in Houston.
Also surviving are her children: Gayle Wray of Covington, Shaun Voress of Toledo, and Becky Voress of Covington; and her grandchildren Owen and Adleigh Wray. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Charles (Dolly) Broerman of New Bremen, Mark (Jenny) Broerman of North Star, Walter Broerman of Carthagena, Phyllis Broerman of New Bremen, Sandy Poeppelman of New Bremen, and Nancy Bond of Celina. Surviving in-laws include: Pam Broerman of Greenville, Judy Voress of Austin, TX, George (Karen) Voress, Jr. of New Bremen, and Roger (Sharon) Koenig of New Bremen.
Along with her parents, Gin was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Broerman, her son in-law Andrew Wray, her father and mother in-law George (Freda) Voress, Sr., a brother in-law Jere Bond, and her sisters in-law Ronda Broerman and Jane Koenig.
Gin was a 1972 graduate of St. Henry High School. She was a long time member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, where her passion was the Blessing Pantry. She had worked at Crown Equipment Corp. in New Bremen for more than 46 years, working in various aspects of assembly before her retirement in 2019. Friday was Gin's favorite day, because it was her shopping day. She loved to shop, especially for anything on sale or that she had a coupon for. She also had a passion for collecting Precious Moments, collecting all but two from the original line. She was an avid reader and enjoyed tending to her flower beds, but her favorite times were spent with her family and friends gathered around a campfire or spending time doting on her grandchildren.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Gin's life will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, with Rev. Ken Locke officiating.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again on Thursday, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church. Private family inurnment will take place in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions in memory of Gin can be made to the St. Paul Blessing Pantry or to Ohio's Hospice of Miami County.
Memories and condolences can be shared with the Voress family on the funeral home website: www.gilberghartwigfh.com.
