Six knights in shining armor transported the Mercer County Fair back to Medieval Europe on Sunday evening. The Knights of Valour Extreme Jousting Troupe demonstrated equestrian skills hitherto unknown in the Grand Lake area. In a head-to-head tournament before the crowd in the grandstand, the knights tilted at each other on their stout steeds seeking to dehorse each other with 11-foot Douglas fur lances. Sometimes their aim was amiss, other times the shank shattered and sometimes the thrust hit true and sent a knight falling from the saddle to the ground - a heap of flesh and slightly tarnished armor.
