Wanda Pfeifer
Wanda M. Pfeifer, 84, of Portland, Ind. died Oct. 23, 2009, at her home.
She was born on May 20, 1925, in Salamonia, Ind., to Charles and Mary Elizabeth Corle Mays. On Nov. 10, 1946, she married Carl R. Pfeifer Jr., who died Oct. 21, 1981.
Surviving are a son, David Pfeifer, Portland, Ind.; three daughters, Patricia (Ronald) Joyner, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Susan (Tom) Ford Sturgis, Mich., and Cynthia Shaneyfelt, Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Darwin (Pat) Mays, Fort Recovery; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She worked at Jay Products for 23 years and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodges, all in Portland. She graduated from Madison Township High School in 1942.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, the Rev. Rogers Durham officiating. Burial is in the Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Ind.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Portland Chapel of the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Jay County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
