Mercer, Auglaize counties to begin 18 road projects

Ohio is kicking off its largest construction season ever this year.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is awarding more than $2 billion in projects, outnumbering past seasons by 30 percent.
Included in the 1,600-plus projects this year are 130 interstate projects, 300 resurfacing/pavement upgrade projects, 290 bridge and culvert modernizations, 30 pedestrian and bikeway improvements and seven maritime projects at ports along the Ohio River and Lake Erie. [More]

BURKETTSVILLE - A man died Tuesday after his clothes apparently caught fire while burning brush in a field in northern Darke County.
The name of the victim was not released by press time today pending confirmation of his identity through a forensic examination and notification of relatives.

Mercer County commissioners on Tuesday tabled a decision to pay for rabies treatment for a St. Henry woman who was bitten by a raccoon.
Commissioners Bob Nuding and John Bruns opted to obtain more information on the woman's financial situation to determine her financial need.
Mercer County commissioners on Tuesday awarded construction of an underground cistern to Stachler Concrete of St. Henry.
